Hello everyone, and welcome to Nocturne Everlasting: The Other Realm! The rules as they were before were a bit redundant and wordy, so for your sake, I'm going to try to keep this as simple as possible. x3
Without further ado, behold the rules!
1. Don't be an ass.
Nobody likes an ass. If your character is an ass, that's cool, but keep it in character. Long story short, just be respectful to the other members and the mods of the site, and we shouldn't have a problem. If you feel like someone is harassing you, feel free to message myself or any of the mods and we'll deal with it accordingly.
2. Before you can start roleplaying, you must submit your character profile in the character creation board.
There will be a template up there so that you can see what we're looking for as far as character info goes. Once your character is approved, you're all set to go and ready to start roleplaying. Don't be intimidated about the character application! We want to approve everyone so we can get to the fun stuff. :3
3. Please attempt to be literate.
We're not saying that you have to type 5 paragraphs per post, but at least one would be nice. Granted, I understand in certain roleplays, shorter posts allow for more back and forth interaction, so it definitely isn't a requirement. Also, "txtspk" tends to be a huge pet peeve for people in the roleplaying community, so we just ask that you keep it at a minimum when typing in character.
4. No Godplay / Godmoding!
Godmoding is when one plays a character that can never be destroyed, harmed, etc. The character, however, can hurt and/or kill the other characters without giving the other characters a chance. Godmoding can also consist of directly controlling another person's character without their consent. So just know that you can't be invincible, nor can you be unstoppable. It's only fair to give the other characters a chance to react to your actions. If something big is going to happen in roleplay, such as the death of a character, it's usually best to discuss it with the other person OOC beforehand.
5. Stay in character as much as possible in the roleplaying boards.
If you're speaking OOC in an IC board, please somehow indicate that it is OOC so that the other members know. It's also usually wise to somehow indicate if your character is merely thinking something vs. actually saying it.
6. Because of the lack of simple humans, NPCs are allowed.
Generally the point of an NPC it to merely be a background character, so as such, NPCs won't really have any major roles in storylines. If you find that you begin using an NPC and they begin to develop more and more and you'd like them to have more of a role, feel free to write up a character profile for them and use them as a PC.
7. No advertising for other sites or posting random spam on the boards.
We have enough bots doing that as it is. D: There is a board for posting links to other sites of interest, and that is the only place where advertising other sites is allowed.
8. Watch what you post!
We personally don't have a problem with things such as violence, language, sex, etc. in character. The only problem is that we have to draw a line between a tasteful love scene and straight up cybering. We've had sexual content on here in the past, and while we don't mind it, it has been flagged by the host site, so we just want to be careful not to get flagged for inappropriate content. That's my lengthy way of saying "follow Proboards' ToS".
If you'd like to roleplay here, that's all we ask of you. Any violations and a warning will be issued. After that, further action will be taken if necessary. If you have any questions or concerns at all, feel free to message myself or any of the admins/mods.
Thanks for reading! Happy nightmares! ♥
